Says post-matric scholarships sanctioned to six lakh SC students
KADAPA: The Government hiked mess charges of social welfare hostel inmates by 20 per cent, entailing an additional financial implication of Rs. 100 crores, Minister for Social Welfare D.S. Redya Naik said on Saturday.
A sum of Rs. 350 crores was sanctioned towards post-matric scholarships to six lakh SC students, said the Minister in Praja Patham gram sabhas at Yerrabadi and Chinna Chowk areas in Kadapa town this evening. The Government allotted Rs. 200 crores for constructing Social Welfare hostel buildings and allotted Rs. 500 crores for developing lands of poor, he said.
Kadapa district which was neglected by previous Governments was undergoing rapid development in the last two years, Kadapa MP Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy said.
Kadapa town was being beautified to be developed into a model town. Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences was nearing completion and would admit MBBS students this year, he said.
He sought people's cooperation for road widening, as it would pave way for underground drainage facility.
