A two-day Mega Lok Adalat will be held in Prakasam district during the week-end with special focus to settle pending civil and criminal cases, District Judge and District Legal Services Authority Chairman G.Chakaradhar Rao said on Wednesday.
“On a direction from the State Legal Services Authority, we are holding the Mega Lok Adalat on November 17 and 18 to provide relief to litigants whose cases remain unsettled for long,” the judge told a press conference here along with DLSA Secretary and senior civil judge G.Ramagopal.
Both civil, including matrimonial and motor vehicle cases as also all compoundable criminal cases would be taken up in an effort to save time and money for litigants.
“We have issued notices to parties concerned to come forward to arrive at a compromise in the best interest of both the parties. Even those who have not got notices can approach the Help Desk here for taking up of their cases,” he said. The litigants could reach a compromise even before the stage of filing of charge-sheet, he explained.
It was a win-win situation for both the parties as court fees would be refunded when their cases were settled during the Mega Lok Adalat, he added. We will be constituting 15 to 18 benches across the district as we expect over 2000 cases to come up during the mega Lok Adalat,” Mr Ramagopal added.
