Foundation-stone will be laid shortly, says Panabaka Lakshmi
Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas Panabaka Lakshmi on Tuesday announced that a mega handloom cluster is coming up at Chirala in the neighbouring Prakasam district.
The handloom cluster to be built at a cost of Rs.70 crore would go in a long way in providing better facilities for weaving, processing, and marketing yarn.
Foundation-stone for the cluster would be laid shortly.
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Union Minister for Textiles Kavuri Sambasiva Rao would be present, Ms. Lakshmi said after opening the newly built Municipal Office Complex at Repalle.
The Minister, who was here to take part in Rachabanda programme, also said that the State government was providing solar lanterns to handloom weavers on 80 per cent subsidy.
Vidya mission centre
Later, she opened the Rajiv Vidya Mission centre in the town.
Congress leaders Chejerla Narayana Reddy and local leaders were present.
