Responding to a representation from the industrialists and business community, Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development D. Purandeswari has convened a high-level meeting at the head office of APEPDCL to review power situation on Sunday.

The meeting will take stock of the situation arising out of power cuts and holidays declared for various units following stoppage of hydel power generation and drastic fall in thermal power availability. CII, in its representation, told the Minister that their member-companies had been facing frequent power cuts due to shortage of power in Visakhapatnam district. The scheduled and unscheduled power cuts were having negative impact on industrial growth, it stated.

“Generally, the industry is also prepared for power cuts during the summer. The manufacturing units also plan their business activity according to the prevailing power supply situation in the State. Due to continuous power cuts, the industry is not meeting the minimum production demands ,” the representation pointed out.
