VISAKHAPATNAM: A national conference on condition monitoring (NCCM – 2009) will be held in the city on Friday and Saturday.
The conference, being organised by Condition Monitoring Society of India (CMSI) and Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), will highlight the role of condition monitoring in maintenance of machinery in industry.
Plant maintenance engineers, eminent academicians and scientists from R and D labs will participate in the conference. Vibration monitoring, oil and wear debris analysis, motor current signature analysis, acoustic emission and automation are some of the topics chosen for deliberations, according to convener of the conference P.V.S. Ganesh Kumar.
A number of eminent speakers, who include retired professor of IIT Chennai V. Ramamurti, Dr. Sumeet Tuli from IIT Delhi and Dr. Rajiv Tiwari from IIT Guwahati will deliver talks and an exhibition of condition monitoring tools and products by equipment manufacturers will be organised as part of the meet.
He also said that the Andhra University had agreed to start a post-graduate diploma in condition monitoring in distance education mode in association with CMSI.
CMSI was set up in 2003 under the leadership of V. Bhujanga Rao, who is at present NSTL director, and Prof. M. Ananda Rao, who is principal of MLRIT, Hyderabad.
