Media personnel covering the ongoing CoP 11 were surprised on Saturday when the buses which transport them to the venue from Press Club at Somajiguda were subjected to a thorough security check by police before they departed.
Bomb detection equipment and a sniffer dog were pressed into service. Not only have the buses been thoroughly examined, but a policeman accompanied the media personnel in each bus which went to the venue and brought them back to Press Club after the event.
This security drill would continue daily till the conclusion of CoP 11 on October 19.
While a senior police official maintained that security check was being carried out following request from some media personnel, it is learnt that it was triggered after police found on Friday that two of the persons who travelled by media bus did not have the access passes issued to journalists who registered themselves for covering CoP 11.
