Minister for Major Irrigation P. Sudarshan Reddy said that representatives from Medical Council of India (MCI) would come to inspect the conditions at the newly constructed Government Medical College cum Teaching Hospital here, within a week.
After their visit, college would be approved within a couple of months before the beginning of the coming academic year as all the MCI requirements were fulfilled following its guidelines, he told the media persons after inspecting the college cum hospital here on Thursday. The college would start functioning in the coming academic year, he said.
Mr. Sudarshan Reddy suggested to the hospital authorities to take initiative to open dialysis wing as many poor people found it difficult to afford the expenses for the facility at private hospitals.
He asked the authorities to pay special attention to sanitation and patient care.
Collector Christina Z. Chongthu, Medical College Principal Dr. A. Suman Chandra, Government Hospital Superintendent Dr. Bheem Singh and others accompanied the Minister.
