Medical Council of India (MCI) team consisting of Pramod, Amit Ranjan, and Manoj Jain on Friday inspected the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences-Srikakulam to verify its facilities.
The inspection assumed significance as RIMS is eagerly waiting for MCI's nod for 4th year MBBS course.
The RIMS could get permission for the last three years only in the eleventh hour as it did not have adequate infrastructure and faculty.
The team which has inspected the medical college expressed concern over the lack of facilities, including radiology wing, auditorium, and teaching staff.
The hospital authorities, including its director D.V.V.S. Ramamurthy, told the MCI members that they had been taking all the steps for improving the facilities and to meet the standards of the Council.
The team which will continue its verification on Saturday too will come out with its decision by end of month.
