The ‘A’ division one-day knock-out tournament final between State Bank of Hyderabad and Deccan Chronicle at Gymkhana Ground on Friday had to be abandoned because of the unexpected early morning showers as the covers were not on to take care of the playing area.

“We did not expect the rains and we kept the wicket open as we felt there will be a sporting wicket in place for the match,” says HCA Academy Director Kanwaljit Singh.

The timing of the final could well reflect the seriousness with which HCA officials consider this knock-out tournament which features elite teams. The final is scheduled a day after the Hyderabad team was announced for the South Zone K. S. Subbaiah Pillai Trophy limited overs tournament in Goa next week.
