Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram’s statement not a U-turn, says Rayapati

‘GUNTUR: The Communist Party of India (Maoist) cadre have infiltrated the into universities and other places in Telangana region turning the entire movement violent, which was going against the formation of a new State, said Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao.

At a press conference here on Friday, he said that all the violence being created in Telangana was through infiltration of Maoists into the region, which could lead to deterioration of the law and order and imposition of President’s Rule. Discouraging the MLAs, Ministers and MPs from Telangana region from resigning from their posts, he said that this would come in handy to impose President’s Rule as a Constitutional void would be created further delaying the process of formation of separate Telangana.

The Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram’s second statement was only in the direction of larger consultation for creation of the State and not a U-turn as was being made out by the TRS for its own political agenda, he added.

Strongly condemning the attacks on TDP leaders in Osmania University on Thursday, he asked students to maintain law and order and impress upon all the political party leaders to come to the discussion table so that formation of Telangana could be accelerated.

Mr. Rayapati Samabasiva Rao appealed to the Telangana agitators not to harm those, who had settled in that region from Andhra.
