Librarian plans to make it the best facility
Broadband connectivity likely soon
Efforts on to screen educational films
Rajahmundry: The children’s section in Goutami Regional Library has many takers. The exclusive facility provided recently has many special features. The management will introduce the inter-library loaning system this week to enable more children to read books.
According to Chandrika, senior Gazetted Librarian, under the new system, any school having library period can bring children to her library accompanied by a teacher. The books can be given to schools on loaning system on monthly basis, but the school has to assign a teacher exclusively for the job to look after the books.
The library has 15 personal computers out of which three to four will be kept exclusively for children for multi-media presentation by taking broadband connection from the BSNL. There are even plans to screen educational films to children every week with the support of the Information and Public Relations Department in children’s library.
Ms. Chandrika has said that efforts are on to procure English language learning CDs and audio-visual aids for children and make it as best reference library for children. The Lions Club and the Rotary Club will be approached with a request to donate a few play articles to create sports corner within the library premises, she adds.
