A 36-year-old person from Reinbazar in Old City was arrested on Wednesday for possessing four passports which he had obtained allegedly by furnishing false information.

The Commissioner’s Task Force (East) team caught Mohammed Omer Khan and seized four passports from him. According the TF Inspector K. Srikanth, the accused had obtained his first passport from Hyderabad Regional Passport Office in 1998. He flew to Riyadh four years later and stayed there for a few years working as ambulance technician in a hospital.

After returning to India in 2007, he acquired a second passport with a fictitious name Syed Ummer Ali by presenting fake and forged documents. Using this fraudulently obtained passport, he flew to Saudi Arabia. He approached the Indian Embassy office seeking rectification of his name in the passport stating that it was wrongly mentioned as Ali.

He furnished a copy of the advertisement published in a newspaper in India by his father stating that his son’s name was wrongly mentioned as Ali in the passport while the correct name was Khan. Thus, he obtained his third passport with original name.

In 2009, he contacted the Indian Embassy office in Riyadh again seeking inclusion of his wife’s name Qamerunisa and got the fourth passport.
