Police take his story with a pinch of salt
HYDERABAD: A fertilizer shop's collection agent Satya Reddy on Tuesday alleged that two motorcycle-borne youngsters robbed him of Rs. 3.17 lakhs cash by hurling chilli powder at him at Sultanbazar. But the police found many missing links in Reddy's version while reconstructing the crime scene. "He is being grilled," said East Zone DCP B. Balakrishna.
Reddy told police that he returned to city from Siddipet carrying Rs. 3.17 lakhs on Monday midnight, went straight to the office, slept there for the night and started for the manager Ramesh's house at Sultanbazar on foot.
"However, his employers make it clear that Reddy used to travel only in autorickshaws whenever he carried cash and never came on foot," investigators said. Surprisingly, doctors who examined the agent, said no traces of chilli power were found on his face.
A special police team has left for Siddipet to crosscheck the statement of Reddy that he started from there.
