In a well-orchestrated plot, a gang of tricksters relieved a 50-year-old person coming out of a public sector bank branch of his cash bag here on Thursday.
After dropping a Rs. 10 currency note, a member of the gang adept in attention diversion tactics, tapped the shoulder of the person, Y.Nageswara Rao saying that he had dropped some money on the floor, Ongole I Town Circle Inspector K.Prakasa Rao said.
As the unsuspecting person was busy taking the currency note from the floor, another gang member lifted the bag containing Rs. one lakh in cash. He took some time to realise that he was tricked to part with the cash bag. By then the conmen had made good their escape, the CI said.
The C.C.TV footage showed that “three persons have cheated the person working with an apparel shop on the Mangamoor road.” Efforts were on nab the offenders, he added.
