A man created a scare in Mypadu Gate area here when he killed his 26-year-old wife and took her body to his native village, Yerlapadu in Marripadu mandal, for burial on Friday.
The police said that Diddugunta Venkateswara Reddy, a TV mechanic, attacked his wife Radha and cut her throat causing fatal injuries. The incident took place at their residence at Srinivasanagar first line in Mypadu Gate area in the wee hours.
Later in the day, Venkateswara Reddy brought the body out on his shoulders and carried the same in a vehicle to his native place.
The motive behind the murder was stated to be alleged illicit affairs of his wife. They have two children, Bhavana and Moulendra.
Venkateswara Reddy was suspected to have taken the body out of the city to hush up the case with support from his parents. The blood stains in his residence here were also reportedly washed.
The Marripadu police said that the body was found at the burial ground of the village and it was later sent for post mortem.
The village revenue officer visited the place and conducted an enquiry.
The police had reportedly taken Venkateswara Reddy into custody.
