Suraiah was angry that his parents did not allow him to conduct pooja to their family deity
In a shocking incident, a woman was beaten to death by her own son, Suraiah, here in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to information reaching here, Suraiah had earlier thrashed his father Bikshamaiah (70) who went into coma before he killed Bhandari Suguna (65) of Bhudaraopet in Khanapur mandal.
Suguna and Bikshamaiah, who had embraced Christianity a year ago, had restricted Suraiah from coming to their home.
One week ago, Suraiah went to his parents to allow him to conduct the pooja to their family deity ‘Uppalamma’ that was consecrated at their residence but had been abandoned.
But his parents did not give him permission, following which, Suraiah approached the village elders and a ‘panchayat’ was held to resolve the issue and no solution was found to the dispute as both parties stuck to their positions.
On Friday, Suraiah went to his parents’ house to collect firewood for the proposed pooja. Angered at this, his mother complained to the police. Suraiah arrived at their residence late in the night after he found out what his mother did.
In the early hours of Saturday, Suraiah in a fit of rage rushed to his parent’s house and beat his mother using sticks and rods. She died on the spot. Khanapuram police sub-inspector Naresh apprehended the accused in the noon at Narsampet bus-stand while he was trying to escape.
The DSP, K.G.V. Saritha, prodcued the accused before the media.
