A man stabbed his wife and grievously injured her reportedly due marital problems.

The victim, Y. Asha Rani, was admitted to the King George Hospital here with 10 stab injuries. The accused was taken into custody within hours of the attack.

Asha Rani and Appa Rao, both hailing from Narsipatnam town, were in love with each other and they got married in 1985. She was an Anganwadi worker at P. Ramannapalem village under Kotauratla Police Station. Appa Rao had an altercation with his wife over some petty issue a few months ago. Subsequently, Asha Rani started living separately. She went to the ICDS Office at Kotauratla to submit some files. While she was returning, Appa Rao allegedly stabbed her and fled the scene.

She was rushed to a hospital where her condition was said to be critical.

During interrogation he reportedly confessed to the police that he had decided to eliminate her as she was having an extra-marital affair with another man. Investigation is on.
