An unidentified man aged 50 died atop Indrakeeladri, the abode of goddess Kanaka Durga, here on Thursday.
The deceased travelled from Bhimavaram to Vijayawada on general ticket in a train. He was said to have slipped near the place where hands are washed in front of the reception counter.
He died on the spot. The body was shifted to Government General Hospital.
In view of the incident, priests closed the temple for about 10 minutes to perform ‘samprokshana’.
An unidentified person was charred to death when he came in contact with live high-tension cables in the railway station on Thursday.
The deceased, who climbed up the Yeswanthpur-Howrah Express, was reduced to ashes when he touched the wires above the train on Platform No.1.
Railway police are investigating the case.
Naga Lakshmi, 26, of Ayyappa Nagar was murdered by an unidentified person at her residence on Thursday.
According to locals, the miscreants slit her throat and killed her at around 7.30 p.m. The victim, a mother of two children, was deserted by her husband.
The Patamata police are investigating the case.
