Naval Science and Technological Laboratory, Visakhapatnam has got a new Director. Senior officer Chengalvala Durga Malleswar took over as the Director on Tuesday.

Prior to his appointment as Director, he was Associate Director of NSTL for six years. Born in Vijayawada, he holds MS in Electronics and Communications from IIT-Madras, MSc (Tech) Radar Engineering from Andhra University, M. Phil in Defence and Strategic Studies, from the University of Madras. He is also a graduate of the 45{+t}{+h}course of the prestigious National Defence College, New Delhi.

A leading weapon launch control systems expert, Mr. Malleswar contributed enormously towards development in critical areas of weapon control systems, embedded computers, real time operating systems, weapon launch guidance and control technologies along with associated avionics systems.

He has also played a pivotal role in envisioning the futuristic requirements and accelerated the R&D focus in decisive technologies. He is a specialist in system engineering of torpedoes and has contributed to both onboard systems and several key technologies. Majority of products and projects designed by him are first of their kind in India and inducted into service.
