HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy is planning another round of administrative shake-up around April 10, to select a team that would expedite the completion of all developmental and welfare programmes within the deadline.

He is said to have asked Chief Secretary J. Harinarayan to evaluate the performance of the bureaucrats on merit in preparing the transfer list. Some Collectors are expected to be replaced while a major reshuffle of IAS officers in senior positions is said to be on cards.

Upset over reports of non-performance of IAS officers in some districts, Dr. Reddy has reportedly asked the Chief Secretary to take such officials to task.

He is also keen to see the completion of `Jala yagnam' and housing programme targets well ahead of time to counter criticism of delay. `Lack of coordination' between the Chief Minister's office and the administration in districts is another aspect that is being looked into.

Even ruling party MLAs are seeking a tight leash on the administration, complaining bitterly of problems at the district level. One area they feel that needed immediate attention was the Joint Collectors' performance.
