Majlis president Asaduddin Owaisi strongly condemned the criminal case filed against Resident Editor (AP) of The Hindu S. Nagesh Kumar by DGP V. Dinesh Reddy.

One could understand if there was anything defamatory in the newspaper report or if the complaint had come from godman Habib Mujtaba Al Aydaroos Baba. “But in this case the complaint is made by a policeman. Has Andhra Pradesh become a police State?” asked Mr. Owaisi.

Media was the fourth estate and one had to take the criticism in the right spirit. The filing of case against Mr. Nagesh Kumar would be ‘counter productive’ for the government, the Hyderabad MP said and asked Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to intervene and see that the case was withdrawn.

In this case, the complaint is made by a policeman. Has Andhra Pradesh become a police State?

Majlis president
