Stop reacting to TD protests, APCC chief tells partymen

Hyderabad: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and APCC president K. Keshava Rao on Friday directed the Congress cadres not to resort to crude methods of protest while taking out rallies to counter those of the Telugu Desam Party.

Responding to the road show organised by the TDP cadres against the Chief Minister in Vijayawada on Thursday, they said political parties should not lower standards in public demonstrations and debates.

Dr. Keshava Rao in a statement decried the manner in which the TDP followers demonstrated on the streets of Vijayawada.

Earlier, the Chief Minister reportedly prevented his city partymen from organising a demonstration against the TDP in a demeaning manner.

Effigy burnt

The City Congress leaders were asked not to stoop to the level of the opposition, following which, they just took out a rally and burnt an effigy of Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu.
