Maha-Rudra parayanam marked the celebrations of Mahasivaratri at Sathya Sai Prema Sadan here on Sunday where over 500 devotees took part in various devotional activities to promote universal peace and harmony.
Vedic scholars gathered to seek the blessings of Lord Siva chanting rudram for 121 times. Laksha patri puja with maredu leaves and kalayanotsavam of Lord Siva and goddess Parvati were performed with gaiety and fervour under the aegis of priest Bhaskara Sharma.
The puja was followed by akhanda bhajan (from 6 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday). In line with the celebrations, samiti members and volunteers recited devotional songs.
Members from 20 mandals of Sathya Sai Seva Samiti participated in the daylong devotional activities. Convenor K. Venkateswara Raju, senior officials of samiti and hundreds of devotees participated.
