HYDERABAD: A low pressure area lay formed over north-western portion of the Bay of Bengal on Friday and it is likely to precipitate the advance of the south-west monsoon into the State.
An official in the State Met Office said favourable conditions now existed for forward movement of the monsoon which would benefit not only Andhra Pradesh but also parts of Karnataka.
Meanwhile, heat wave persisted over Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, Guntur, Warangal and Medak districts. A heat-wave warning has been issued to these areas valid for Saturday. Bapatla and Tuni recorded the highest day temperature of 44 degrees Celsius even as a number of places elsewhere received isolated rains ranging up to 3 cm each.
