Girl’s kin allegedly beat up 23-year-old Srinivas to death
K. Srinivas, 23, a tractor driver, was beaten to death allegedly by a girl’s relatives in Gundaram village of Illanthakunta mandal on Tuesday.
Police sources said that Srinivas and K. Babitha, 19, were in love since one year.
Babitha, a resident of Gundaram village, on a visit to her grandparents’ house in Gagillapur village of Bejjanki mandal fell in love with Srinivas, who hails from the village and the two became close.
On a few occasions, the girl’s relatives accosted them and warned them to mend their ways.
The lovers assured the girl’s kin that they were planning to get married and accordingly had convinced their parents too.
A few days ago, the relatives of the girl had thrashed Srinivas in the presence of the girl.
Sircilla Rural CI Mahesh Goud told The Hindu that on Monday Srinivas complained of stomach pain and was shifted to Karimnagar for treatment.
The doctors, who examined him, found that his intestine ruptured and was bleeding.
They performed surgery too. However, Srinivas succumbed to injuries in the early hours of Tuesday. The girl was present at the hospital where Srinivas was being treated upon.
Srinivas’ father, Swamy, lodged a complaint with the police stating that his son was killed after he was beaten up by the girl’s brothers, K Maruthi and Shankar, and her brother-in-law, V Rajaram. The police registered a case and are investigating.
