In yet another road accident involving a child, an eight-year-old girl was crushed to death under the wheels of a lorry near her residence at Rambagh under Rajendranagar police station limits on Sunday morning.

Police said Sony and her sister went to attend nature’s call on the roadside when the lorry driver, who is absconding, drove the vehicle in a negligent manner hitting the two.

Death was instant for Sony while her sister escaped unhurt, said Rajendranagar Sub-Inspector S. Laxman.

Based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s father Amresh, police registered a case against the lorry driver and launched a hunt to trace him with the help of vehicle’s registration number.

Amresh hailing from Kalgurthi village at Khadli mandal in Gulbarga district came to the city a few years ago and was staying at Rambagh.

It is the second such incident in the city as on Saturday, a 15-month-old Satwik died after a car hit him at Risala Bazaar in Alwal.

The boy was playing in the neighbourhood when the killer vehicle hit him, police said.
