HYDERABAD: Muslims should not see themselves as minorities but rather as the second largest majority in the country, said Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha K. Rahman Khan.
He was quoting from the 1942 public meeting speech of India’s first Education Minister Maulana Azad while delivering a talk on ‘Relevance of Maulana Azad: Thoughts and Visions for Indian Muslims’ at Maulana Azad National Urdu University here on Monday.
Mr. Khan advised Muslims to look at their future in the nation with courage and consciousness rather than with doubt and distress that “will lead to doom”.
Dig at media
Mr. Khan expressed unhappiness that the “extraordinary leader”, who played a pivotal role post-Independence shaping the nation’s destiny for 11 years as Education Minister, was not given his due.
“We have forgotten him. Today is National Education Day but (there is) not a word about him in the national media,” he remarked.
