Alleging that some medical professionals were resorting to unethical practices and cheating people with false educational qualifications, the Lok Satta district unit and Karimnagar Consumer’s Council has warned such professionals to mend their ways or else they would approach the Medical council of India (MCI).
In a press note here on Friday, Lok Satta district president N Srinivas, general secretary T Rajamouli, Karimnagar consumers council leaders Prakash Holla, KC Reddy, R Chandra Prabhakar and others have alleged that doctors who pursued MBBS degree course in Russia, Ukraine and other countries, are claiming themselves as specialists doctors possessing MD degree and cheating patients. They said that the MD in Russia and Ukraine countries was equivalent to MBBS in India.
They said that some doctors were claiming themselves as specialists by displaying boards of MD D Card, DNBE, general medicine, D Ped etc. and asked them to correct themselves by changing their name plates and publicity materials.
Expressing concern over sale of over Rs 5,000 crore worth medicines by various pharmaceutical companies, they alleged that the pharmaceutical companies were luring the doctors by offering foreign jaunts and commissions for prescribing medicines at the cost of patient’s health.
They said that they would soon lodge a complaint with MCI along with necessary evidences against the pharmaceutical companies.
