ANANTAPUR: Police investigation into the murder case of TDP leader and former MLA K. Suryapratap Reddy has not made much ground though Home Minister K. Jana Reddy's deadline of 48 hours to announce the names of culprits has passed.

Police sources here stated that they were on a manhunt for Bhogati Narayana Reddy, Chairman of Tadipatri Agriculture Market Committee and close associate of J.C. Diwakar Reddy, one of the key suspects as per the complaint given by son of the victim.

They were learnt to have taken three persons into custody and interrogating them.

The police have filed first information report based on the statement given by Suryapratap Reddy's gunman V. Venkteswarlu in which he had stated that unidentified persons attacked the TDP leader after spraying chilli powder into the eyes of both the former legislator and his gunman. He has not mentioned the number of assailants.

The police are suspecting that there could be more than 10 persons in the team which had attacked Suryapratap Reddy.


Meanwhile, the TDP leader was cremated in Thimmampalli of Yellanur mandal this morning. A large number of Sureedu's followers and supporters gathered.
