VISAKHAPATNAM: An LIC officer was on Wednesday sentenced to undergo two years' rigorous imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs.2,000 for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 in connection with payment of a death claim. According to the prosecution, the accused W. Giridhar, branch manager of LIC (City Branch - 3), demanded the money as illegal gratification from the complainant G. Ramakrishna Rao on October 31, 2001 for settling the death claim of his son.
