Director-General of Police K. Aravinda Rao on Tuesday said that draft proposals to check atrocities against women were sent to the Centre a few months ago. But, as the Centre was contemplating a comprehensive legislation, it would take some time for a clear picture to emerge, he added. As part of his two-day visit to East Godavari district, Mr. Aravinda Rao visited the District Training Centre at Bommuru near here and reviewed the law and order situation in the city. He also addressed the trainee constables. Talking to mediapersons, he felt there was a need for reorganising the newly bifurcated Urban Police Districts. Growing industrial units in and around Kakinada and Rajahmundry in East Godavari district necessitated the need for a security review, the DGP said. He said there were vacancies in the department and that the ongoing recruitment process would meet the requirement.
