Affiliated College Teachers' Association accuses Government of undermining aided system

NELLORE: Affiliated College Teachers' Association (ACTA) has decided to boycott valuation of answer scripts of undergraduate examinations for one day on April 17.

Speaking to newsmen, ACTA secretary P. Srinivasulu Reddy on Saturday said that lecturers of Sri Venkateswara University region would boycott the valuation on Monday. "It is to protest against the Government's nefarious designs of undermining the aided system through its latest order GO Ms 35," he claimed.

The Government has passed an Act in the recently concluded budget session denying unaided services the privileges of Career Advancement Scheme, Automatic Advanced Scheme, increments and pensions. And this act was given effect retrospectively from April 1, 1980.

Taking a dig at the evaluation mode being implemented in the SVU, the ACTA secretary wondered as to how the university could conduct spot valuation from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. "This kind of practice is detrimental to the interest of students as no lecturer could evaluate 50 answer sheets in 10 hours without committing mistakes," he claimed.
