Women lecturers and students of Microbiology and Biochemistry departments of SKR and SKR Government Degree College in Nagarajupet celebrated the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in a novel way by taking up a door-to-door awareness campaign on the prevention of viral fever, dengue, malaria and typhoid in Akkayapalli, Sastrinagar and Dargah street in Kadapa on Monday.
In-charge Head of Microbiology Department Mercy Hema Malini and in-charge Head of Biochemistry Department J. Venkatalakshmi, lecturer P. Laveena and students explained to the people the symptoms of diseases like viral fever, dengue, malaria and typhoid, preventive measures, treatment and medication. College principal P. Padmavathi, who inaugurated the awareness programme, lauded lecturers and students for taking up the social service activity.
Shantha Kumari, a resident of Sastrinagar complained about the stagnation of drain water near houses and that officials were indifferent to their representations. Siva Nageswari, a resident of Dargah street, lamented that several persons in the area were down with viral fever.
