Collect signatures of people at railway and bus stations
As part of their efforts to secure a High Court Bench between Guntur and Vijayawada, advocates collected signatures of the public at Guntur railway station and bus station on Wednesday.
The relay hunger strike in front of the District Court is continuing in the absence of any statement by the government.
Joint Action Committee convener D. Samuel John and others leading the agitation are extensively touring West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts to garner support for the agitation.
Advocates are also abstaining from duties in spite of a circular issued by the High Court to put an end to the trouble faced by litigant public. The High Court observed that the day-to-day work in courts was being interrupted and dislocated due to the boycotting/abstention of courts by the advocates.
Hardship to litigants
This caused a delay in disposal of cases and litigant public were put to untold hardship financially and also mental agony.
The High Court instructed the District Judge to make an appeal to the advocates to cooperate with the courts and to persuade them in every manner to desist from any conduct that impaired the dignity of the courts.
Meetings of the Bench and Bar were sought to be convened to amicably sort out the issue.
Accordingly, the judges met leaders of the Guntur Bar Association, but all measures to persuade them apparently failed.
