Damodaram Sanjeeviah National Law University would be developed as one of the best in Asia, Minister for Investments and Infrastructure Ganta Srinivasa Rao said while inaugurating the Counselling and Mediation Centre of the university here on Friday. He also said that foundation for the university’s building, estimated to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 80 crore on a 40-acre site at Asakapalli near Sabbavaram, would be laid on March 7.
Referring to the centre he inaugurated, the Minister said a lot of time and money could be avoided through counselling and mediation instead of settling the matter at a court of law.
He was happy that the DSNLU started the facility for its students.
Vice-Chancellor of the university R.G.B. Bhagavat Kumar, Registrar P. Sudhakar, faculty members, and students were present.
Later, answering a question from reporters, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said all efforts were made to locate a major port sanctioned by the Central government at Nakkapalli in the district, but could not succeed as the Indian Navy did not give its approval due to security reasons.
The port would come up in Prakasam district. He hoped the port would trigger a lot of development in the area.
