SRIKAKULAM: Joint Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah on Tuesday directed the officials concerned to complete the acquisition of 682 acres still required for the Vamsahdara, Thotapalli and other irrigation projects by February 20 and also pay compensation for the acquired lands immediately.
Reviewing land acquisition process for various projects in his chambers here, the Joint Collector said that Rs.15.60 crores was available for payment of compensation for acquired lands.. He made specific mention of villages like Bathuva, Punnam, Neelamvalasa and Jaada under Thotaplli project and wanted payment of compensation be competed immediately.
He also expressed unhappiness over delay in completing valuation of structures and trees and exhorted officials to expedite the proceedings in villages like Tulagam and Garlapadu.
The stage is set for the distribution of 6,705.68 acres of land to various groups like Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and BCs under the third phase of land distribution programme in the district. The Revenue Minister, Dharmana Prasada Rao, is scheduled to participate in the distribution programme at Srikakulam (Kodi Ramamurthy stadium at 9 a.m.), Tekkali (Government Degree College 12 noon) and Palakonda (3 p.m.).
The largest number of beneficiaries 2,852 will be from Palakonda division.
They will get 4,982.68 acres of land.
