With the support of Praja Rajyam Party leaders, tribals of Seetampet are all set to conduct ‘Lakshadeeparchana' on Kannedhara Hills on November 14. The locals conduct ‘Lakshadeeparchana' every year during Karkeetikamasam and offer special prayers to the local deities on the hill.
PRP district president Palavalasa Karuna Kar asked the government to develop Kannedhara Hills as a pilgrimage centre so that people from other parts would understand its importance.
The move to conduct special prayers in a big way is being considered as another bid to thwart the proposal of granite mining in the region.
Recently, locals installed statues of deities and vowed to stop the mining by Rammanohar Naidu, son of Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao.
