The Lake Protection Committee of the HMDA which inspected Amber Cheruvu in Pragathinagar of Balanagar mandal was aghast to find that the encroachment of the tank bed area was continuing unabated after the pillars erected earlier to demarcate the tank area were dismantled by anti-social elements.
“Huge structures such as apartments and individual houses have come up within FTL area,” the committee noted in a press release issued here on Tuesday.
The committee headed by the HMDA Metropolitan Commissioner Rajeshwar Tiwari instructed officials to take urgent steps to check the encroachments.
The committee noted that there were few encroachments within FTL and buffer zone and the FTL pillars were intact at the Tamidikunta located in front of Shilparamam.
The survey work of Yellamma Cheruvu in Kukatpally was also completed, but the FTL stones were not yet fixed on the ground.
The committee found some encroachments within the surveyed area.
The committee later decided to complete the works on Pedda Cheruvu in Ramanthapur, Chanda Cheruvu in Jillelaguda, Thamidiunta lake at Madhapur, Amber Cheruvu and Yellamma Cheruvu in Kukatpally on a top priority basis.
