A labourer, Beeraiah, 38, allegedly strangled his wife, Mallamma, 30, to death after picking up a fight with her in an intoxicated condition on Sunday night, the Rajendranagar police said on Monday. Hailing from Mahabubnagar district, the accused was living with his wife, two daughters and a son at Erradoda in Rajendranagar.

On Sunday night, he returned home heavily drunk and quarrelled with his wife. He later murdered her and left the house in the early hours, the police said.

History-sheeters held

The Commissioner's Task Force on Monday caught three history-sheeters, Mohd. Akbar Siddiqui, 39, Shaik Sultan, 31, and Mohd. Omer Quadri, 37, and seized a dagger and two swords from them. The arrested persons belonged to different gangs and were accused of involvement in several crimes like murders, robberies and extortions.

Youth knocked down

An unidentified person in his early 20s crossing railway track was killed when a train hit him between Borabanda and Hafeezpet railway stations on Monday. The Nampally Government railway police are investigating the case.
