The Kula Vivaksha Porata Samiti will intensify stir to press for enactment of legislation at least in the winter session of the Assembly to provide statutory backing to the sub-plans for SCs and STs and put an end to the unabated diversion of funds earmarked for them for other purposes.

Hoisting the KVPS flag at the LBG Bhavan here on the KVPS foundation day on Tuesday, its district secretary A.Malyadri lamented that the government had failed to keep its promise to introduce a bill for the purpose in the just-concluded Assembly session to ensure that the funds earmarked for SCs/STs, were not diverted once-for-all.

''We will not rest till a law is put in place to give statutory backing to Scheduled Caste Sub-plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub-plan (TSP) well before presentation of the next budget to ensure socio-economic justice for the downtrodden people'', he said. Its district president A. Srinivasulu pressed for appointment of SC/ST Commission chairman and also filling of vacancies. SC/ST Employees Federation district convener A.Raghavulu condemned the delay in constitution of a special court for speedy trial in the Lakshmipeta dalits carnage. KVPS Kanigiri division secretary B.
