The three-day ‘Yuvajanotsavalu' (youth festival) of the Krishna University ended on a colourful note here on Thursday, with local MLA Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) attending as chief guest.

He noted in his valedictory address that Vempati China Satyam, who was honoured on Wednesday as part of the youth fest, was instrumental in making efforts to package Kuchipudi dance as an appealing one to the present generation of audience.

He did everything that he could to help Kuchipudi keep up with the changing times, and also gave a new lease of life to the art.

“Machilipatnam is the cultural capital for arts and this youth festival is a display of the rich cultural tradition that prevails here,” said former Minister Mandali Buddha Prasad.

“Krishna University is playing a key role in promoting cultural tradition even while achieving academic excellence, which is commendable”, he remarked.

M. K. Durga Prasad, Vice-Chancellor, Krishna University, applauded the contribution made by China Satyam to Kuchipudi, and dedicated the youth fest to the legendary artist.

The valedictory began with Kuchipudi performance by the disciples of China Satyam.
