NELLORE: Congress leader and close associate of former Principal Secretary P. Subramanyam, Panabaka Krishnaiah blamed the State administration for the helicopter crash in which Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and four other officials died on September 2.
Speaking to the newsmen here on Thursday, Mr.Krishnaiah said that the crash occurred due to the negligence of the State administration and held the officials of AP Civil Aviation Corporation Limited, police and the Chief Minister’s security responsible for the tragedy.
Alleging that the officials took the former Chief Minister’s tour lightly and did not collect the weather report on September 2 morning, the Congress leader demanded the government to inquire into steps the VVIPs’ security team and the police took before the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy took off from Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad.
He said the Crisis and Disaster Management wings totally failed in reacting to the incident in time and criticised the officials for not utilising the available technology.
“Even in small accidents the officials will find out the cause of the crash and the officials responsible for it, based on the preliminary enquiries. But in a tragedy in which a Chief Minister, and four officials were killed no such enquiries were made so far,” said Mr.Krishnaiah.
