500 students to be recruited by the US tax planning consulting firm on yearly basis
Jollin Britto, senior vice-president of IBSN Inc, a tax planning consulting firm in the United States, and Koneru Satyanarayana, Chancellor of the Koneru Lakshmaiah University (KLU), will sign an agreement for recruiting 500 students of B.Com (honours) and MBA (finance) on a yearly basis.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Satyanarayana said this was a first of its kind agreement and an industry-academia initiative to foster the spirit of collaboration to offer even employment opportunities to qualified students.
Under the agreement, B.Com four-year customised learning programme on global taxation would be offered. Every academic year will have eight months of theoretical learning and four months of internship. An impressive stipend of Rs. 10,000 a month would be given to the students during internship.
IBSN would contribute in terms of designing US taxation content and curriculum for this programme, which would be integrated with the KL University's programmes. Mr. Satyanarayana said that the IBSN had the potential to recruit approximately 1,000 professionals a year through the programme. It would enable the students to earn a degree with a specialisation in US taxation and become Certified Tax Professionals (CTP).
He said the collaborative programme would have all essential inputs that would be helpful to B.Com graduates in their higher studies for CPA, CFA, CA, MBA and the like.
Mr. Britto said that the programme was designed to cater to the needs of global accounting, financial and taxation sector. It would give the students the required exposure to real-time work experience in the MNC company located at Hi-tech city in Hyderabad or Vijayawada, which, in turn, would give them an edge over others while trying for placement or seeking admission in reputed business schools for higher studies across. On completion of tax specialisation programme, students would have the choice of joining IBSN or other MNCs or pursue higher studies.
