Konark team wins football tourney

A.L.N. Rao, Chairman and Chief Executive, Heavy Water Board, Mumbai, has underscored the need for team work in every sphere of life be it a sports activity, organising an event or a development endeavour.

He was speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of a football tournament organised as part of the XXVI Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Sports & Cultural Meet held at Atomic Energy Central School (AECS) grounds at Gautaminagar here on Sunday evening.

Konark team representing players from the DAE units based in Jaduguda, Kolkata and Talcher won in an exciting final match held at the grounds defeating Ajanta team by an overwhelming margin of 7-0 goals.

Showering praises on the players of Konark team for their excellent display of teamwork, he said, “Team effort holds the key to success and the successful conduct of the mega event is a testimony to this dictum.”

He lauded the active participation of the players representing various units of DAE from across the country in the productive as well as sports endeavours.

Chief Guest of the function Jitender, DIG, Warangal Range, said that sports and cultural meets would help the employees reach highest standards in personal as well as professional life. “Play ground is a workshop which teaches the players the art of team management. We learn team work from the ground with individual excellence,” he remarked. Heavy Water Plant, Manugur, Chief General Manager M. Venugopal, General Manager (Operations) C. Seshasai, Industrial Relations Officer B.K.Jena, Kothagudem OSD K. Raghuram Reddy and others were present. The inspiring songs sung by the students of AECS highlighted the spirit of unity in diversity and national integration left the audience spell bound at the closing ceremony.
