Says his government will ensure the recent hike will not burden the poor
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy gave an assurance that the government would study the power charge issue on Thursday and see that the poor people would not be burdened due to the recent hike.
Addressing a press conference before winding up his three-day Indiramma Baata mass contact programme here on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy said that with regard to the government’s relief from power charge hike, the parameters for identifying the eligible poor people would be decided by the court.
However, a close look would be taken to find out how the issue has to be sorted out.
Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy evaded reply to a question on the objections being raised by the Congress leaders like Union Minister Chiranjeevi who wanted the hike to be rationalised so as to prevent damage to the party’s interests in an election year.
The final day of his Indiramma Baata met with strong protests by the YSR Congress Party, Telugu Desam Party, BJP and Left parties, even as some of the opposition leaders and cadres were arrested during the day.
