The long-felt dream of an FM (Frequency Modulation) radio station in Karimnagar would be fulfilled on January 12 with Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy formally inaugurating the services from Hyderabad.
Disclosing this to newsmen here on Sunday, Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar said that the Chief Minister along with Minister for Civil Supplies D. Sridhar Babu and other leaders of the district would participate in the inauguration function at All India Radio (AIR) station in Hyderabad on January 12 morning. The FM radio station would air its programmes from January 12 onwards for the benefit of Karimnagar people.
It may be recalled that the Karimnagar MP had strived hard for its completion and inauguration by pressurising the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry and other authorities. The idea of starting the FM radio was conceived by the then Karimnagar MP and TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao in 2005. Since then, the works were delayed due to obvious reasons.
