A five-year-old girl, who was kidnapped by an unidentified woman from Borabanda on Sunday morning was traced later in the day at Ramanthapur.
The kidnapper left the girl, Manasvini, in an open place at Ramanthapur after snatching her gold ear studs. A passer-by Chandu noticed the girl weeping inconsolably and enquired about her whereabouts. Chandu then alerted the Ameerpet police, who contacted Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar police and handed over the child to her parents.
According to the police, Manasvini and her cousin Nikhil (6) were playing near their residence when the woman lured them to a shop saying that she would purchase firecrackers for them. When she brought them onto the main road, Nikhil grew suspicious, gave the slip to the kidnapper and returned home.
The boy also informed the matter to his family members, who immediately lodged a complaint with the Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar police. Police officials said a hunt was on to trace the abductor.
