While it seems more or less certain that the Congress party will take the chairmanship post of the Anantapur District Cooperative Credit Bank (ADCCB), it has become a big question as to who would be made the chairman.
While the incumbent chairman of the ADCC bank, Tarimela Kona Reddy, is enthusiastic about his chances of making it to the post successfully, the entry of the younger brother of former Minister and Tadipatri MLA J.C. Diwakar Reddy, J.C. Prabhakar Reddy, has made the contest a keen one within the Congress party.
While J.C. Prabhakar Reddy’s entry into the election was a surprise in itself, given that he was tipped for an MLA ticket from any one constituency in the district, the fact that he was successful in ensuring that most of the PACs in Tadipatri and the surrounding mandals went the Congress party’s way makes him a strong contender for the post.
However, the Congress party alone, solely on its own strength, cannot make a successful bid for the chairmanship of the ADCCB and would need the support of either the TDP or the YSR Congress. Given these political dynamics at play, Kona Reddy comes back into the fray as someone who is credited with a turnaround of the bank during his tenure in the last few years besides the fact that he has played an instrumental role in bettering the prospects of the party in the recent elections and also enjoys the tacit support of a sufficient number of YSRC candidates to stake a claim for chairmanship.
