Senior Congress leader and MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy took strong objection to the statements of TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao on the issue of Rayala-Telangana constituting Telangana region and two districts of Rayalaseema region.
He said that if KCR was really interested in the welfare and development of his region, he would have gladly agreed to the addition of two districts of Anantapur and Kurnool which have irrigation projects and power plants. “Maybe KCR seeks his family’s supremacy in a Telangana State,” he added.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Vivekananda Reddy said that the stand of KCR clearly reflected his greed for political power. KCR might also be afraid of the possible supremacy of the Reddy community in a Rayala-Telangana State unlike in Telangana with 10 districts in which the ‘doras’ would expect to rule, he said.
Asserting that their stand would continue to be in favour of a united State, Mr. Vivekananda Reddy came down heavily on Seemandhra politicians, saying that they were taking a convenient stand without advocating for Samaikyandhra. While some leaders agree to Rayala-Telangana, leaders like Chandrababu Naidu talk about ‘sama nyayam’ and Jaganmohan Reddy reversed his stand on bifurcation.
Mr. Vivekananda Reddy said that it was only because of the convenient stand taken by Seemandhra politicians that the situation had deteriorated.
