`BJP alone can ensure Telangana State'

  • White paper sought from TRS president on Telangana issue
  • Plea to people to grill TRS leaders

KARIMNAGAR: Asking TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao to release a white paper as to how the party would achieve the statehood for Telangana by coming out of UPA Government, BJP state vice-president and former legislator G. Ramakrishna Reddy called upon people to grill TRS leaders during the electioneering on the issue.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he asked the TRS president to withdraw from the contest in the by-election for the Karimnagar parliamentary constituency and support candidature of the BJP.

Reiterating that the BJP alone could ensure separate statehood for Telangana, he said that the TRS with four MPs couldn't achieve Telangana by coming out of the UPA Government.

"How can you (Mr. Rao) expect the AICC president Sonia Gandhi to give approval to the Telangana state after your victory in the by-election? Even if the Congress party candidate wins, he would not pressurise the Congress high command for the formation of Telangana because of various obligations," he noted.

Alleging that the Congress had once again betrayed the people of Telangana after being elected on the sentiment in 2004 elections, he said the Congress had no right to speak on the formation of Telangana as they do not have any clarity on the issue.

He demanded the Congress party to introduce the Telangana statehood bill in the coming session in the Parliament to prove its sincerity.

He also demanded disclosure by the Congress and TRS leaders their agenda for the by-election. Referring to Mr. Rao's statement that he would not allow encounters in separate Telangana state, Mr. Reddy wanted to know why Mr. Rao had not uttered a word on encounters when he was in power with the UPA Government. District party leaders M. Arjun Rao, B. Satyanarayana, K. Ajaneyulu and others were also present.
